Every month Lowe’s publishes a free magazine called Lowe’s Creative Ideas.  It’s filled with a ton of awesome home and garden projects. One of the things we love about the magazine is under each DIY project they have a scale telling you the level of difficulty and what it will cost.  We’re obsessed!  You can download this magazine for free on your iPhone under the newsstand app or subscribe to their emails.  Today’s project, an ombre spray-painted frame, is directly from Lowe’s and we thought it was too good of an idea not to share.

When it comes to all things DIY, I like easy. To say this week’s Thrifty Thursday is easy is an understatement!  It’s likely we all have some old frames lying around that need a little sprucing up, this project is the perfect remedy.  Instead of a picture frame, you could also ombre a mirror, just make sure to cover up the glass portion before spray painting.  All you need for this project is a frame, 3 varying colors of spray paint, and a picture for your frame.  Make sure you pick spray paint that is all in the same color family and range from light to dark.  Now grab your old frame and get to work!

For exact details on creating your ombre frame, watch this one minute video! I followed every last detail!

Grab an old frame!

1. Divide frame into three portions (place tape next to frame as a marker). 2. Start with darkest color on bottom and spray just above the first tape mark. Follow with medium color, spraying just above second tape mark. Finally, follow with lightest color. 3. After first coat is dry repeat step #2 to make sure all of frame is covered.

This is my all time favorite picture of Sir. I have been waiting for a frame worthy enough to put it in. I think this one did the trick!
