If you hang out at The Resource Girls for more than five minutes you probably already know that we love looking great but we’re not willing to spend a fortune to do it. One of our best kept secrets, that isn’t a secret any longer, is getting our makeup done at MAC…for free. I can’t remember how or when we discovered that we could do this but we’ve been obsessed ever since. This isn’t something we do on the regular but it is something that comes in handy for special events or when you’re needing an extra boost of confidence. Events I've had my makeup done for: meeting Jillian Michaels (obviously), Usher concert, and the Paper Fashion Show.
When you have your eyes done for free the artist has to help other customers so they may have to take breaks. I’m also comfortable with my foundation, bronzer, blush regimen so I do this at home after. At the store they do full face makeup consultations for $50 a session. This is a private session where the artist's sole focus is on you and your makeup. We think this is a little pricey for a one time makeup application.
How it works ||
· Go to your local MAC store and tell one of the makeup artist you want your eyes done.
· Don’t feel obligated to purchase. Obviously they will offer for you to buy something or add fake lashes etc. Only purchase if it’s something you actually want. I sometimes feel bad saying no so I’ll ask them to write down the shadows or liners they used so I can think about it and maybe make a future purchase.
· Leave yourself enough time, remember the artist may have to help other customers. I would recommend at least an hour. If it’s a Saturday afternoon or around the holidays maybe even a little longer.
· Depending on what is available in your area remember that Macy’s, Nordstrom and other department stores also have MAC counters. You don’t necessarily have to go to a stand alone MAC store. I like MAC so I go there but I'm sure other makeup brands offer the same services.
