Thrifty Thursday: A Month of Jewelry || www.theresourcegirls.com

We're super excited for our Thrifty Thursday posts this month.  We've declared it a month of jewelry and we have some bomb tutorials coming your way!  They are all wearable pieces and you don't have to be a DIY master to follow along.  Here's a few sneak peeks of what's to come! ||

To start off a month of jewelry we're sharing a tutorial below for a fringe necklace!

It should come as no surprise that these Resource Girls love fringe!  We’ve posted about it several times (here and here) and it’s been a DIY inspiration on the regular. We just can’t stop riding the fringe train, especially when we see pictures like this. We were immediately inspired and had to make our own version!   We're happy to say the end result is better than expected!

1. It's important that you buy a chain exactly like the one in the picture.  It needs to have two links for this tutorial to work.  You can find it at any craft store in the jewelry section. Start by taking your leather strip and pull it through the front of the first chain link as picture below.  Pull until about half of the leather strip is through the link.

2. Next pull the same part of the leather through the second chain link.  You need to pull it through the back side of the second chain link and down.  It will make more sense as you look at the picture and go on to the next one.

3. Pull the leather strip through so that it's evenly divided in front and back.  Continue doing this around the front of the necklace.  Find a good balance between not having too many strips and not having enough. Whatever your personal style is, go with that.

You could add some beads onto the leather strips for something different or interchange different colors of leather. Don't be surprised if these babies start showing up in more photos to come...we're obsessed with them!

We loved the necklace so much that we made two.  They are both completely different from the color of the leather to the length.  Hopefully it gives you some ideas of how you could make it your own.
