All of the sudden we blinked and LC was married, Cat was back in Michigan and 2016 is half over. When someone figures out where time goes please clue us in! The older these Resource Girls get the more it seems we've been focusing on making the most of every day and not taking anything for granted. It can be easy to get caught up in the day to day routine of life and before you know it you've eaten the same things for the last month, worn the same clothes and been stuck on the same radio station. Every year summer seems to fly by. Next thing you know it'll be September and we'll be at a loss for what we did the last three months. We're here to challenge you to stop and take a minute to evaluate where you're at, be thankful for how far you've come and set some goals for the future.
Over the last year I embraced boho vibes like never before. I find myself being drawn more and more to the originality, carefree spirit and simplicity of this kind of fashion. Even something as simple as changing your look can give you a whole new state of mind. Keep reading for more ways we've broken out of a rut, our daily routine and have set our eyes on sunnier days.
And if you're as obsessed with this maxi as much as I am it's on sale so shop it here!
Take A Day Off
LC has to remind me of this on the regular. Even if you do nothing but stay home and clean or stay home and watch movies TAKE A BREAK! Sometimes cleaning out your closet with country music blaring, pajamas on all day and the wildest top knot leads to the best days. Days off with no place to be are just good for the soul, don't feel guilty about it!
Get A Change of Scenery
You don't have to go far to experience new views which we find often leads to new revelations. No matter how big or small the town or city where you live we're sure there are places you haven't visited. Set an hour or two aside and visit some place new. Even driving a different route to work can change your routine. If you're like us there's probably a park, yoga studio or coffee shop you've been dying to try and just haven't made time to go. Make that a priority! These pictures were taken at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. Now that I've moved I miss views like these but have already discovered some new ones that make my heart super happy. Wherever you're at, find beauty there.
One Step At A Time
Our mental and emotional stress one hundred percent affects us physically. We have both experienced physical symptoms of stress through the years. It can be overwhelming when wanting to be healthier but not knowing where to start. Read our post here on four things you can do to be healthier this summer and pick one thing. You don't have to change everything at once! Start with a goal to drink a certain amount of water every day, maybe give up alcohol or sugar for a week, or have a goal to exercise a couple times this week. Whatever it is start small and go from there. Being overwhelmed is the worst so take it one step at a time.
Ask for Help
Sometimes we may know we need to change or want a change but don't even know where to start. There are SO many amazing books and resources out there. You may not even need to spend hundreds of dollars on a therapist, even though this may be helpful too. Take a quick peek at some of our favorite reads when you just need a little extra umph. Outside of the pages of a book, look to a friend or loved one to hold you accountable. Asking someone you trust to check in on you, offer advice, or keep you accountable to the goals you set can be a huge help!

Do Something for Someone Else
It seems counterintuitive but sometimes by taking the focus of ourselves and doing something for a friend or loved one is the best medicine. A random act of kindness may just shed some light on a situation and help you refocus. Need some ideas? Check out a post we did last month here.
Maybe you’ve just crushed some goals you already had set and you’re feeling on cloud nine, set some new ones! We challenge you to set goals in a different area of your life, whether physically, emotionally or mentally. Without a vision you don't know where you’re headed! It doesn't have to be January 1st or a big birthday or life event to do a little reset. It can be a Wednesday, any time day or night or just whenever you feel like it. No matter what stage or era of life you’re in we can promise you’ll never regret taking some time for yourself to refocus and recharge!
