Be happy. Depending on where you’re at in life this can either be insanely easy, or super annoying to hear and hard to live out. I totally get it. In February I was going through a rough patch and didn’t want to hear anything of the sort. My attitude was struggling and I just wasn’t in a great place. When hard times hit it can be really hard to bounce out of it and be this positive person. Am I right?
This got me thinking, how do you "Be Happy" when you feel the opposite. We’re always talking about positive vibes here on the blog, but that can be difficult when times are tough. The older I get the more I realize it’s all about our mind. If you’re struggling or in a place where even seeing the words be happy makes you roll your eyes then check out a few of our posts to help you make some progress mentally. No judgement here. We’ve both been in rough patches and I’m thankfully finally coming out of mine, so maybe a mental shift could do you some good. Check out our RG Be You Campaign and if you're even more curious about it then read our post here. If you need to practice more gratefulness to kick your butt into gear then check out our post here on the 5 Minute Journal. What we put into our mind, we believe. So if you’re going through a hard time then I’d ask yourself what are you filling your mind with? When you fill it with things like gratefulness, love, and positive energy, sooner or later your mind will catch up to it and believe those things.
Using my hands and working on a craft always helps my mood improve, so I couldn’t help but get inspired one Saturday when walking around Hobby Lobby. Well let’s be serious, shopping in general helps my mood, but shopping for craft supplies just about feels like Christmas morning to me. I saw this wooden arrow and instantly got inspired. I also found this insanely cheap poster board, which looks just like wood, that had my craft heart skipping a beat. They also had pretty floral poster board that was just as cute! All you need are a few materials, all found at Hobby Lobby, to make this super cute sign just in time for spring. We can also promise working with your hands and adding a fun saying to it will have you on your way to feeling a little bit happier!
(All found at Hobby Lobby)
1. Trace your arrow on the wrong side of the poster board and cut this out. I lined up one side of the arrow with the edge of the poster board so I had some clean lines I didn't have to cut.
2. Using E6000 glue, glue the poster board to the top of your arrow. Allow this to dry.
3. Taking the stencil decide where you want your wording and then go over it using your paint pen. This paint pen is life changing. They're great for creating smooth, clean lines and so much easier then a paint brush. I did several coats of paint, but ensure you let each coat dry before you apply the next.
4. Add stickers or anything you find in the scrapbook aisle to your sign! That's it!
