“Live less out of habit and more out of intent.”
Since starting school in the fall I’ve been living a pretty routined life. So much so that in late winter it started making me feel a little crazy. I was so scheduled that each week was looking like the last. Do you ever feel your life is like that? You’re going through the motions, doing the same thing over and over again without much change. I’m positive this is just sometimes adult life and even winter blues, but there’s sometimes no way around it. I desperately wanted to break the habit of feeling so closed in by schedule but I just wasn’t quite sure how.
Not too long after feeling like this I thankfully came across this quote on Pinterest and it changed it all around for me. “Live less out of habit and more out of intent.” It got me thinking that although there wasn’t much room in my schedule for spontaneity and change, I could change how I saw my schedule and maybe that would give me the push I needed to get out of my head and meet each week with fresh energy, even if it didn’t look much different from the last. Yes, I still had to go to work and school, but I realized through this quote that if I continued looking at my weekly routine as habits, then I was going to keep getting the same results and I was going to keep being annoyed. Thanks to this quote I started focusing my energy on being intentional with my time. One small mindset shift and it changed everything.
I started realizing how much better my days and weeks went. I became intentional with my meal prep and gave thanks every day that I had lunch ready and prepped to grab and go. I started being intentional with my workouts and making them work me. Thanking my legs for walking, my arms for carrying weights and my heart for pumping along as I sweat. I started making those pockets of time where I had nothing planned even more intentional like doing something random and fun. I even made my drives more intentional by changing it up and going a different route, so it didn’t feel the same ol’ same ol’. This quote is my new favorite. We all have habits and routines, but when was the last time we stopped to make our daily schedules intentional?
This brings me to my Be Intentional ring from Horse Feathers Gifts. I’m obsessed with it! It’s not only a great reminder that each day is a gift and it’s my job to make my moments out of intent rather than habit, but it’s also just super cute. Paired with my new cold shoulder sweater from Thistle and Finn and I’m ready to conquer that mundane schedule any day of the week!
